Strengthening Body and Mind: Fitness and Fellowship with Pete Thunem

At Arch to Freedom, we believe that physical vitality is a cornerstone of long-term sobriety. This gallery showcases our residents in action with Pete Thunem, CCAR, NASM, CPT—a Case Manager and Certified Personal Trainer who bridges the gap between mental health and physical wellness. Pete’s unique approach to recovery integration stems from his own journey and his background in the local South Florida fitness community. By combining clinical case management with NASM-certified personal training, Pete helps our residents rebuild their strength, discipline, and self-esteem through structured physical activity.

Pete’s philosophy is simple: “the least effective way to move through life is by yourself.” These images capture the power of fellowship and the impact of mentorship in a group setting. As a Qualified Recovery Support Specialist, Pete doesn’t just lead workouts; he fosters a culture of accountability and community building. Whether he is leading group classes for local recovery non-profits or working one-on-one with our residents, Pete’s goal is to ensure that fitness becomes a sustainable pillar of a healthy, balanced life in recovery.
